Fill the gas tank until the pump stops ( full tank ). Write down the currnet mileage on the odometer. Drive for a while. Fill the gas tank again until the pump stops (full tank). write down the number of gallons. Write down the current mileage.

Subtract the original mileage from the current mileage to get the miles traveled.
Example ( 84500 - 84000 = 500)

divide the number of miles traveled by the number of gallons

Example (500 miles / 20 gallons = 25 miles per gallon)

very easily

1. Next time you fill up, set your trip meter to zero (push in the little knob underneath the odometer) and the note number of gallons you purchase, down to the tenth

2. Drive until it's time to fill up again

3.Note the trip meter reading when you fill up - subtract it from the first reading you noted

4. Divide that figure by the number of gallons you purchased to arrive at your MPG

1. Fill up your tank and write down your odometer reading
2. take your trip or do your normal driving
3. Fill up your tank and record the total gallons used off the pump. Write down your odometer reading.
4. Subtract first odometer reading from the second reading. Divide that by the number of gallons you used. =mpg

when you fill up your gas tank look and see how many gallons of gas you put in then look on your trip count and see how many miles you have driven. hen divide the total miles driven by the gallons of gas you have put in your tank and this will give you your gas mileage.

All of the above, but in newer cars, there's meters that tell you the actual fuel consumption.
