Most american people (and others sometimes) seem to thin that Sweden is the same as Switzerland. Do you KNOW where Sweden is located? And do you know anything about Sweden? We are NOT from another planet, you now...:-)

Well, I learnt where Sweden and Switzerland are many years ago at school; but you know, European schools usually pay much more attention to general knowledge, including geography, history, even some latin.
Last August I had the pleasure of visiting Stockholm; I have no words to explain how beautiful it is!!! And I was surprised because everybody speaks English there!! I mean, not only in hotels or restaurants: a young boy in a supermarket in Golgatan street and at the underground stations.... well, everywhere I tried, I got an answer. Beautiful city and really well educated people. I hope I´ll come back some day.

Hi!

Well, it's not a secret that a lot of Americans are bad in geography. When I'm in the states and someone asks me where I'm from and I say Norway, they think it's the capital of Sweden and they're not even sure if it's in Europe!!

But I've seen worse. I used to live in Australia and I met a girl from Sydney that had never heard about Europe or any of the countries in Europe. She didn't even know that Canberra is the capital of Australia and she was Australian....

and just for the record "makingkon!, Finland is not a part of Scandinavia. Scandinavia is Norway, Sweden and Denmark. If you include Finland and Island, it's called the Nordic Countries.
And Sweden does not have a president. They have a king!

Oh but you are. I know where Sweden is an a little about your history. I don't know a lot. I do travel around the world, but to place's I guess that have chosen as first to see. Like Kissing my wife on the Eiffel tower on our 25Th anniversary. I really have seen a lot of different places but I would like to say ( not political ) what do you know about where I live in Central California on the coast side. Probably not much. We have history here too. Another planet to visit. That is the fun part of traveling to places you have never been. Some people in Los Angeles have never seen the ocean and they live with in 30 minute from it. Sad but true. It is good to get the word out though, that you would like to share anything about where you live and what a great place it is to come.

Yes, I know where Sweden is. I spent two weeks there in August..My grandparents came from Blekinge, so I had the chance to "snoop" the place of their origins. We had a great trip. I was very impressed with Vaxjo -- and Stockholm, Uppsala, etc.
I was surprised at the prices of certain items -- $4.00 for Coke and $7.00 for beer. The transportation system is hard to beat. What gives you the idea that most Americans are ignorant of Sweden? Barry8743@yahoo.com

I know the difference. Sweden is in Scandanavia with Norway and Finland.

Switzerland is in Europe near the alps.

I hope to visit Scandanavia someday. I've managed to see parts of Switzerland.

I know Sweden is not from another planet, and I hear the people are quite friendly.

I seem to remember a female politician that may have been your next prime minister or something like that was killed in a strange incident about a year ago or so.

Great question. Yes I know all about Sweden, its people, and its culture. I have had a love affair with cultural geography all my life. Sweden has been an obsession of mine for years. Sad to say, most Americans are geostupid! I apologize!

Hejssan Börje! Maybe you shouldn´t think so highly of yourself because you and us Finns share the same problem, we are such small nations that the rest of the world simply do not care where we are located. We are not important. I wish that the whole fennoscandia (scandinavia including Finland) would unite. Maybe then we would have some say in the world politics in reality. We are the chairman country of EU and that adds up to sh*t. Think about it man, the whole lot of us combined would be some 30- 37 million people. Not half of the german population. On our own we will fall. United we might have a chance in the globalizing world. We both get treated as aliens on our own planet.

Sweden, that's next to Finland isn't it? Isn't that the winner of the gold in Olympic hockey? Besides, hockey gold, I hear the Swedish women are absolutely oo-la la. I also read the Swedish fish are good too, kinda deep red and have a chewy sweet quality to them. Just kidding with ya on the last part!

I know where Sweden is. I'd love to visit someday soon.
