I have lots of scrap material leftover from different projects. A friend mentioned making a rag quilt. I did not find any directions online for this Project so am hoping someone on Yahoo might have simple directions or know where I can look to get them. Thanks...

A rag quilt is one that has exposed seam allowances that have been frayed, creating a casual look. They are made from either flannel or homespun woven fabric - usually checks or plaids. I don't know how well they would work with printed fabric - it might not fray properly. The first link below is an example of a rag quilt, and you can download the instructions in PDF format. It's nice because this is from the fabric manufacturer's website, so there isn't a bunch of extra junk.

A better bet for scraps is to just use them in a scrap quilt - one that does not have planned fabric choices. Separate your fabrics into two or three categories - light, medium and dark. This is more important than color. Use any pattern you have, substituting whatever fabric is on hand for the pieces. You could also separate them by color and use the different fabrics within one color as "one" fabric. Check out books on scrap quilts - there are quite a few available. The second link below is to a good one. Click "view inside images" below the book to see 12 sample quilts.
