For a woman under 27 years of age having regular [some 2 to 3 acts of sexual intercourse per week], unprotected sex with a fertile man, the chances of conceiving are about 20% for each menstrual cycle. Given the same scenario, chances of conceiving within one year are about 85%. As women get older, their chances of conceiving gradually decrease. By 35 years of age, odds of conceiving are down to about 15% per menstrual cycle. At age 40, the odds are between 8-10% per cycle. At 45 and beyond, chances of getting pregnant are less than 5% per cycle. So, even if you have sex the very same day that you ovulate, your odds of getting pregnant for each cycle are not so much higher [maybe 23-25%] than if you have regular unprotected sex; you aren't guaranteed to get pregnant by having sex at ovulation time. There are a couple of reasons for this. First, about half of all ovums that are fertilized don't implant in the uterus at all, mainly because it had some kind of chromosomal disorder that didn't allow it to develop beyond the stage of a few cells, and the body automatically rejects and discard such an ovum; if it does implant it results in a "blighted ovum" pregnancy. Or, the ovum may implant, but if development of the embryo stops [again because of chromosomal disorders], a very early miscarriage results at about the time that you were supossed to get your period, and you never notice the difference between the two. But yes, it may take fewer cycles to score a normal pregnancy if you have sex at ovulation time each and every month.

Generally, unprotected sex during ovulation is your best chance for getting pregnant. Most doctors agree that for a healthy couple, they should be able to get pregnant within the first year of trying to conceive without contraception. If you are just coming off the pill, it make take a while for your cycle to normalize, but you can still become pregnant.
The first step for both partners should be a general physical with their Doctor, including screening for STDs (sexually transmitted disease) and any genetic testing that may be relevant. (ie. For a jewish couple of european descent, Tay Sachs markers can be identified).
If unable to conceive within a year, your doctor may then recommend follow up studies for fertility challenges. Take into account that age has a lot to do with ability to concieve, as does use of drugs, alcohol, or other substances,
If you are planning to get pregnant, you need to eliminate as many teratogens (harmful chemicals in pregnancy) from your environment as possible. This includes smoking, drinking, drugs, certain medications, etc.) Also, men should be aware that certain kinds of underwear may reduce fertility (such as tight briefs) because of the temperature of the testes.
Wishing you all the best.

No, actually, they are not. In fact, couples who are trying to concieve and do everything perfect, still have only about a forty percent chance of getting pregnant. This means less than half the time will conception actually happen!

There is never a guarantee. The egg is only good for about 24 hours and if sperm comes in contact with that egg within that period then you get a baby...if not then you don't.

it depends on if the guy you have sex with has a good sperm count if not then you probably might not get pregnant but in most cases yes you can get pregnat when you're ovulating and having unprotected sex and you also could get a disease with unprotected sex

Not always. I guess that it depends on what your body is going through....how many sperm are let go at time of ejaculation....how many sperm actually reach the egg......etc. It is never a guaranteed thing.

Not guaranteed, but highly likely. Only about fifty sperm cells actually make it to egg, so it just depends.
