Is that true? I guess personal privacy means nothing to some, and don't most people want privacy when in the bathroom, or are they hiding something?

I have nothing to hide, but I do want the benefit of privacy so that I can share things with friends and family without the rest of the world knowing about them. The government has no business being involved in my sex life or knowing who I sleep with. I want to keep certain acts from being known to the general population just as a matter of respect for myself and those around me.

I don’t like it but privacy is not guaranteed by the constitution. I wish it was but it is not, though there are national, state and local statues written to provide a sibilance of privacy but we have no constitutional guarantee of privacy. Maybe we should write our state legislators and ask them to get off their butts and write a new amendment for the constitution that does insure our right to privacy. If there were a big enough ground swell maybe the powers that be will finally wake up and do their job.

If I have business with you, then you and I have things to tell each other that is of no concern to anyone else. Sending email is one such thing we could do, however, why should I send the equivalent of a post card? In clear text, so anyone who handles it can read it? No, I don't think so. For a certain few of my friends and family, I use encrypted email. I encrypt my personal journal as well. But, guess what? Dubya is monitoring things on the internet and might very well see my encrypted letter to my brother and suspect I had something to hide when in reality I simply object to Dubya reading my mail! This is what it has come down to, and now it is even law (retroactive!) to eavesdrop on US citizens without a warant. If I use clear text, Dubya can read my mail. If I use encryption, then I might make a terrorism watch list.

No, I'm not hiding anything. But the world doesn't need to know when I take a poo, I don't want someone confiscating my bottle of water in an airport, or a bookstore telling someone what book I bought. What about seeing a doctor who tattles to the insurance company to screw up your insurance? But there is an expectation of privacy.

We all have the right to privacy and not everyone has something to hide, one reason I love my privacy is that nobody can use you or start sh*t about you

It doesn't always mean you have something to hide. It may just mean you want to be by yourself. I know I'd like to lock myself in my bedroom if I could just to get a break from screaming kids, but I have nothing to hide... (okay, except maybe my temper LOL)

If you want privacy you either want freedom, or you have something to hide.
I want freedom.
