I am used to not playing with a pick on guitar. Is this a problem, because now i want to do solos and i want to know if i should convert to pick.

Do whatever is most comfortable. A lot of the all-time greats DON'T use picks. A lot of the all-time greats DO use picks. Try both ways, do whatever you like best. I've been playing for 26 years, when I'm sitting around the hous, I usually am too lazy to look for a pick, but when I am playing with a band I will generally use one because I get a little more volume and clarity.

Finger picking is the best way to do solos. This is because you can strike more then one note at a time. Take the great van halen for example, he never ushally used a pick but look at him now.

Hey, Jeff Beck does just fine without a pick! But if you want to try, use finger plectra--they wrap right around your fingers so you can use the same movements as you did before. I bet it'll sound cool!
