You mean in the teenage superman show?
Because good looking people are more popular and likeable then then ugly people? So a show filled with Good looking people would probably receive higher ratings then a show that is fulled with ugly people. after all a show is only sustained when it has high ratings. It's the same thing as when good looking people are thought to be more trustworthy then ugly people.

I don't know, I don't watch that show. I did read on the WWE homepage, that WWE wrestler, Batista, will be a guest on one of the episodes of Smallville.

Well, it would detract from the show, since most of the cast are attractive. Also, most actors are good looking, so that's who gets chosen to play a role. Can't imagine someone ugly playing next to Tom, but then everyone is unattractive compared to him.

The kid who plays Lex Luthor, the guy who plays his dad, Lana Lang, and a whole slew of others on that show.
