i think you should talk to your friend and start with a few subtle questions to determine if your suspicions are correct and if so to what degree at that point perhaps you and or your family could help her make some tough decisions or come up with some plan for intervention.
abuse is ABUSE no matter if it physical emotional mental sexual or whatever it's all abuse and it all hurts.
good luck

Emotional abuse is making someone feel bad. Generally putting someone down, making them feel stupid, worthless, embarrassing them etc. Sometimes the person realizes it and sometimes they don't. They may not take kindly to you trying to make them see. Do what you can but don't push too hard or they will cut you out. Just be there for them. Be ready to step in or get her out if it turns physical, that is more easily identified and if it did happen would hopefully wake her up. If you're wrong, then apologise and just keep watching.

Go to her without him around...ask something like...."are you happy? does he treat you OK" and add that she seems tense/not herself.
That gives her an opening if she needs one.
If she doesn't take that opening, you are wrong, or she feels ok with her life, and then butt out---after telling her you will ALWAYS be there for her, no matter what.
That is all you can do!
