Yes the Hungarians revolted in 1956 and were crushed by the U.S.S.R. The world sat by and watched it happen.

i was in germany in the u.s.a.f. in 1956, and we were on full alert, in case the hungarian situation got to the point that the u.s. got involved. fortunately, we kept our noses out of it.
