A good friend of mine (let's call her Sally) doesn't have any classes with anyone she knew this year, so she made new friends. But one friend of hers (let's call her Julie) runs up to and hugs Sally everytime she sees Sally. I realize that some girl friends hug themselves a lot, but Sally just met Julie about 3 months ago. Am I just being a jealous friend? I'm just scared that Julie may have some more-than-platonic feelings for Sally, and that Sally will get hurt or something.

Maybe "Julie" just really cares about "Sally". If its concerning you, maybe you should ask "Sally" how she feels when "Julie" hugs her. If she says shes fine with it, let it go because some girls just like to hug! But if she said it is sort of bothering her, maybe you could get her to tell "Julie" how shes feels about the hugging. I think its perfectly normal to hug friends. Its a sign that you care. Don't get me wrong though, if your not the kind of person who hugs, that doesn't mean your not caring!

Dude. Learn to use full stops. Okay, well, girls and guys can be friends without dating each other- remember that. Your friend values your friendship with her and she wants the two of you to stay friends and hang out. I don't think she sees you as more than a friend to be honest. The fact she's acting normally shows that she doesn't feel that way and it's not as awkward as it is for you. She's trying to make things less difficult. She has a boyfriend, so she's basically off-limits for now. There's nothing you can do about it. You can't make her love you. She either does or doesn't, and it seems she only sees you as a friend. Yes, life and love are unfair, but you have to deal with it. I know it seems hard right now, but you have to get over her and move on. Do some activities with friends, go out, find someone else to like etc, etc. If you still feel down, try explaining to her how you feel, but without the whinging. I doubt it'll do much, and if you do split them up, she'll have a very angry ex.

Hahahahaha, Sally and Julie remind me of my friends. It's absolutely normal for girls to hug. My friends can hug REEEL tight.....No, Sally won't get hurt. Unless, of course, the hugging turns into something else, but that's highly improbable. Please try not to worry. They're just having fun! You should too! Hug a friend today! =D

Hope this helps!!
Have fun!

Some women are just huggy people. Some of us need more human contact than others. I don't see it as serious.

This is normal behavior for lots of girls. Don't worry about your own insecurities; just be happy & have fun.
