There are no rules. When you feel comfortable, then you're ready to date. Dating can actually be very healing because it will help you reaffirm that there are people out there with whom you can have a genuine relationship. It helps to talk with other people who have been through the same thing. There were two books that helped me: "Happily Even After" by Alan Cohen, and "Spiritual Divorce" by Debbie Ford. My ex read them, too, it helped both of us and we have a good relationship now, which is important because we co-parent our kids.

Well this is tricky. If you are ready then go for it.If you are just lonely then maybe a night out with the guys would be better in the long run.If you have kids you should be very careful as to how you handle any dating because they will see and remember every detail of how you act. Also be honest with yourself and carefully look at what will be better for you in the long run (dating or the single life for awhile).I have chosen the single life for some time now.It helped me heel and gave me enough time to collect my thoughts so I could make better choices also it helped build my bank account again.

I began dating while we were separated (in California you must be separated at least 6 months before your divorce goes through.. ours took 9 months) but nothing serious. I think it will vary for everyone. A friend of mine waited years. I think it's all up to you. You will know when you are ready. Going to a counselor might help. Good luck.

I started dating about 3 months after it was final. Didnt really need time to heal. My ex was an idiot and I was glad to get rid of him.

Immediately - This helped the healing process; just remember not to dwell on the subject when dating. Church groups can also help. Good luck.
