Most of the Italian Restaurants use these days Romano not Parmesan, it taste's similar, but is much cheaper for them. I hope you have better taste because nothing is better than a good chunk of Parmesano Reggiano. Buy it at places like Whole Foods Market, they have a good selection, don't buy the plastic wrapped stuff from the regular supermarket, they are not worth the money in my opinion, and i am a big cheese lover from Europe.

You can try a cheese store, If you ask the owner or manager of a restaurant you go to if you could buy a piece from them .Note it is quite expensive but a little goes a long way. don't forget a little cheese grater got mine at dollar store have used it for 3 yrs it is a must have item.
