Hello dear!
Until Philip III and Alexandre the Great, the Greeks who military "united" the Greek city states, communities and states were running better than empires and large states, at least with the Greek (and thus western) standards; thus Democracy, sciences, Arts, Freedom, etc., have been implied and people have progresses!
After them and the establishment of the Roman Empire, the basic Ethnic and race driven unity and communication within states changed to today's model which is beyond ethnic considerations.
Hence, now, people (from all ethnicities) should unite to overcome the difficulties posed by some rulers who beyond human virtues and values are governing based one their financial, military, etc. powers!
Uniting the states, other times the result is good for the people of the states themselves and the rest of the world, other times it is good only for the people of the united states and others the opposite!
Crucial is that the unification and the governing afterwards is accomplished by wise people!
