Most Rolex watches do not have batteries (they did have a quartz line when quartz was new back in the 60's). I believe all Rolex watches made today are automatic (wind up) Rolex watches have many features to try to stop replicas, but some replicas look really good! some tips include...
If it has a glass back, or if it has writing on the back, it is a fake
Check the indice at 12:00 (the triangle at the 12:00 position) it should match with thr 3rd tip in the coronet on the face of the watch.
there is a small laser etched coronet(crown) on the sapphire glass at 6:00, but many good fakes have this also.
Rolex watches do tick, but the second hand moves 5 times a second as compared to once a second for a average quartz watch. Rolex watches do make noise but they are quieter than most watches.

You can tell by looking to see if the metal around it is really shiny or not and real Rolex watches would be sold in a jewelry store with guards and have very expensive other jewelry in the store.

The second hand on a real rolex will not "tick." It moves seemlessly without stopping on each second mark.

well u can usually tell by who is wearing it or by what the selling price is. if its $200 then it's obviously a fake, they sell well over $1000
