At your age....kids tend to be cruel and heartless and just jacka**es. Being dyslexic DOES NOT make you stupid or retarded. Dyslexia and retardation are two completely different things. These kids aren't even your friends, so you really shouldn't take anything they say to heart. When you guys get a little older though, they stop teasing so much. I promise it will get better. Don't let them make you feel bad.

Did you know that a lot of celebrities have dyslexia? Here are just a few: Keira Knightley, Orlando Bloom, Alyssa Milano, Keanu Reeves, Guy Ritchie, Eddie Izzrd, Magic Johnson, Jay Leno, Salma Hayek, Robin Williams. I'll bet they were teased when they were in school, too. But the truth is, everyone has something. When people make fun of you it has nothing to do with you and everything to do with them. They're scared, insecure, mean, jealous, whatever! I know it bugs you, and the best thing you can do is to focus on what you're doing, and not think about what they're doing. You have a lot of good role models out there. You can do whatever you want to do. You are smart and talented, and probably more so than the average person because you have to work harder to overcome this challenge. You are handling it everyday, and I applaud you!

Tiffany be strong .. these people that pick on you are just hitting out at a vulnerable target YOU. Your problem isn't so much a disability as much as it is a handicap , the handicap is that it takes you more time and effort to process what is written in front of you . you may be the smartest person in the room but you take longer to express and take in information . Its not a personal failing its just a genetic flaw .There will always be thoughtless and unthinking people that tag you as something your not and sweety that is their handicap don't be hard on them .I read about a place that you might like to look into if you haven't already

A friend once said he was a Pentium 4 computer running windows 93 and that is how he described dyslexia to me all the power and intelligence but just a little bit slow on the processing

Hun,I have been through the same thing as you are going through right now.I had dislexiya when I was in Kindegarden and I always thought that I was stupid cause I got held back another year and all my friends went into the next grade.I had people make fun of me when they found out that I got held back in kindegarden for my disabilitie and that made me feel really dumb and stupid. So dont let those people get to you,you are better than them no matter what disabilitie you have dont let them get you down!People who do things like that dont think about what kind of pain they are making for the other person cause they are just insensitive and really mean and they dont realize what a great person you really are past whatever disabilitie you may have cause they dont give you a chance.I hope that I helped you out some and like I said you are better than those who make fun of you and besides they are just jelouse cause they can never be as great a person as you!

Kids can be so mean...especially at your age range.

Don't believe what those people are saying! Maybe you can talk with a teacher or a counselor about receiving extra assistance for your dyslexia and how to deal with it and tips and tricks to help make the learning process easier for you. I've talked to people who have done this and it's helped them a whole lot.

Having dyslexia doesn't mean your stupid or retarded it just means you learn and absorb information in a different way.

OK first this isnt a disability. Some of the most creative people on the planet has dyslexia.

Dont think that you are stupid or retarded, you arent. That said they arent going to stop because there are a lot of rela stupid peopleout there.

BEst thing you can do is igonore them, or if its gets bad talk to your teachers.

If you want to help yourself try somethign called toe to toe. Its a reading program (book and software for the PC) which is brill for dyslexics, it really help.

You know what? Sometimes kids are jerks. I'm 22 and was made fun of in jr. high and high school, but now am pretty popular and not made fun of at all. It's just that these kids are either jealous of you or just don't understand your condition. There are many high profile people who have great careers who have dyslexia. Whoppie Goldberg for example. I would just ignore them or tell a parent or teacher. It's hard, but you will make it through the teasing. Good luck

if people have time to degrade you for something that small they are the ones that need help. i cant say some words or i will look at a word and think its something other then what it is. i have a lisp as well (not a bad one but i notice it). and you know some people laugh at me when i say a word wrong or read something way wrong but i don't let it affect me. you just have to let it go because its not important. when i was your age i was scared that everyone would notice that a part of my arm was discolored so i always wore long sleeve shirts. then i realized that if they have time to care about something that small then they really need help and they are usually the ones that feel bad about them self's and want attention. that's all. it will get easier as you get older i promise.

first of all you are not a retard or anything like that. now even though i dont have dislexia or anything i do know how it is to be slow on things. those people that say such things probably dont know that you have dislexia but think those things just from what they saw or heard. you are fine the way you are. people have it and they are fine. those other people are just jerks who dont know you well enough and who dont know that their are more things in life than being perfect. =) dont worry your not a retard, just ignore them, they dont know what they are saying anyway.
