Learn from an experienced setter. As a helper you won't make much $8-12/hr. Depends on construction experience. As an experienced setter, $15/hr maybe more. Where you make the money is as a subcontractor, get a license. Get in with a builder, even if you have to drop your price a bit. If can a lot of work from a few builders, you can spend less time hunting down work, and more time making money. And yes, you make a lot of money that way. But first learn tile from an experienced setter, and learn to do it well. It takes a bit of time, but it is worth it. Good work is the best way to promote yourself.
