G'day,

Unfortunately you did not mention the operating system you are using on the laptop.

As the first answer mention, it must be a problem with the operating system. If it keeps popping-up and the system crashes, you will need to reformat the HDD and reinstall the operating system & all programs back. However before you do this, you will need to back-up your data files and make sure you have the operating system, drivers and softwares disks ready, since it will ERASE everything on your HDD.

Hope this helps. Good Luck!

Aaaahh... additional info. Good :)
OK... Windows ME is one of the worst Microsoft's OS ever. I am not surprised that you got those problems since the OS somehow just degrading by time, no matter how good you are trying to maintain it.
So I think it is clear that you will need to reformat the HDD and reinstall your OS. If I can suggest, you would probably be better off re-installing Windows 98 instead of ME, since 98 is still a better OS than ME. However if ME is the only OS CD that you got, then no other choice. Please make sure that you run Scandisk after reinstalling the OS just to be sure. Again... DO NOT format your HDD without making a backup or making sure that you have the OS and software installation CD's.

Good Luck!

The kernel is the heart of the Operating System. The error means something is wrong with Windows.
