When we were dating, my husband got on one knee and made a sweet proposal. When I said yes he said he was just kidding. He wasn't ready to get married but wanted to "feel me out". It almost cost him his future wife!

He has since become a very sensitive, loving husband and I wouldn't give him up for the world!

the worst marriage proposal... my husband was a bricklayer. We lived together for years, traveling all over the country. One day he brought up the fact that everyone he worked with thought I WAS his wife. And he said " I ought to make an honest woman out of you one of these days." I said " OK, when?" The answer...."THE FIRST DAY IT RAINS" A week later we woke up at 4:30 a.m. It was raining.. I said "come on Old Man! It's raining. lets go get married!" after a few fake grumples that he couldn't get married on a rainy day, he finally got up and got ready to go. a few hours later, blood test, marriage license in hand, waiting in the court house for names to be called. We were finally married. We were married closed to 30 years when cancer took him away.
Rainy days are still my favorite kind of days. Every year, (even after 8 years without him) I still celebrate our anniversary.

I actually have three of them:

A guy I know pretended to be dead and did the whole funeral home thing, so when the girlfriend came to sob by his casket he sat up and asked her to marry him. After she stopped shouting she slapped him and then she said yes.

My brother didn't know how to give the ring to my sister in law so he tossed the little box at her and began running, my sister in law caught the box, saw what was inside and had to chase my brother to say yes.

One of my friends who is a lawyer made a deal with a police officer he knows so that the cops would take his girlfriend to jail for something totally bogus.
After they stopped the girlfriend, read her her rights and took her to jail, they told her she had only one phone call, so she obviously called my friend. When he came into the cell he told her that the only way they would let her go was if she agreed to marry him, and she did...

I would have beat the sh*t out of him. That's very insensitive!!!

Worst marriage proposal was through instant messenger. I dated this guy for a few months about three years ago and one day after not seeing him or even thinking about him for three years, he gets my screen name and starts chatting with me on messenger. A couple of days later he got on messenger and said that he was signing up for the army and asked me to marry him and go with him because "he knew that we are meant to be together". I was shocked that he was actually serious. When I politely declined....he signed off in defeat and I haven't heard from him since. Ouch!

My "so called" ex-fiance said, out of the blue, "When we get married I'd like it if you stayed home & took care of the kids." There was no actual proposal, but he continued to tell people for 3 yrs that we were engaged. I then discovered he already had a wife & three kids!!! True story, nice, huh?

One of the guys I work with proposed to his wife by asking her if she would like to be one of his tax deductions. She said yes and they have been married almost 25 years.

An ex took me for a picnic near a river to ask me to marry him it made him so nervous he threw up like 3 times first......it ended in disaster so I guess that was a sign.
