Its in B&W, and is set during WW2, in the North African desert.
Its about a bomber crew that has been shot down and the 6 blocks are stuck next to the crashed plane. They are all just killing time waiting to be rescued, playing cricket on a day. It's at the end you find out that they all died in the crash and it is there ghosts were at the plane, and they start to disapear one by one when there remaines are found years later. At the very end there is only one lad left, his body was never found and now he is stuck all on his own. I seen it about 20 years ago at least. Probabley never see it again. Can anyone help...

Hi,
Yeah I remember this film. I must of seen it when I was about 12 so yeah 20 years ago. Can't help much though as I dont remember the name of it. But even thinking back so far(approx 20 years), it made quite an impression. From memory, through most of the film they dont realise that they are dead(ghosts), its as if they have just crashed and are waiting to be found by their search and rescue teams, and I think slowly they start to realise that they cant actually be alive. I think they were American airforce service men, or maybe British(playing cricket I guess they were British).

I think the loneliness and fear was palpable when the last guy was left all alone. All his mates 'remains' had been found accept his, and he was left in this ghost world hanging around his broken plane in the ?desert all alone for eternity.

I saw it at a sleep-over with a friend, and one of his friends who I hadnt met before. It was on tv(Australia-Tasmania), quite late(maybe finishing at 2am), and I stayed up and watched it-I think the other two may have slept through some or all of it. Takes me back thinking about it, as the saying goes as if it was yesterday.
Very cool film. What made you think of it?

Not sure about the b&w but sounds like Sole Survivor with Shatner.

Are you sure its a movie? it sounds like an episode of the twilight zone, or outer limits.

It reminds me of one but I think they flew out through building a new areoplane from the wreckage... Flight of the Phoenix. It was decades old, however, when I saw it.
