this may be a confusiing question... but why are people gothic??

They could be depresse dand abuse drugs, or they just like the style. I know some very nice people who are gothic and they are happy and don't do drugs.

Why are preps preps? Why do jocks dress in jocky-clothing? Why are goths gothic?
Goths usually do it because of the music, but some do it because they want to stand out and not be part of the norm. They want to be different and unique, to express themselves. They may like the style, or want to be part OF the style.
It's just an individual's preference and individuality, and I believe that people should respect it.
And no, I'm not gothic.

It depends on your definition of gothic.
People call me gothic sometimes and I just laugh because I like the clothes, and the music. Its mainly a musical influence I think, just as alot of the other stereotypes are, you know?
I'll even admit that the way I dress is to give off a rebellious vibe. But I also do it because I love the way it looks, the make up, the attitude, the clothing, the art. I just like the whole package.

Being goth has nothing to do with what clothes you wear or music you listen to, it is a way of thinking and seeing the world. The clothes that goths wear and the music that goths listen to is just a reflection of that mindset. Goths see that there is extreme pain and evil in the world, along with the good. Instead of condemning it or ignoring it, goths accept these things as a part of life and try and enjoy the good along with the bad, since they can't stop the bad from happening. They are not obsessed with death, they just accept it as an inevitability. They do not try and cause more pain in their (or anybody else's) lives, since there is plenty to start with. Goths tend to be kind, intelligent, non-violent, emotional, and artistic.

I heard that some do it for attention. Like people will notice them more if they dress in all black. Some do it to make there parents angry like if there teens. SO do it because of how they feel like there depressed they dress in all black because black is depressing. Also some do it just because they like that style. so there are many reasons for the way they dress
