Go to control panel - then system then hardware and device manager Select sound video and game controllers in the list - if you have things in the list with yellow symbols on them right click and select reinstall. If your computer cannot find them then you will have to look on the net and download them and install fresh.
NOTE: you need to work out what your soundcard is - then go to the companies website - most popular is soundblaster - but you need to know the exact version of your card. Go to Accessories/ system tools and select system information - this will tell you what your soundcard is - make and model number - enter this info into google and it will find it for you - make sure you type drivers after the card info.

Might I suggest that you download Belarc Advisor. It's a free utility.
Once you run the programme (it may take a few minutes, depending on your processor, etc.) it will show you, on screen, a page that contains the hardware (and software) on your computer.
If you scroll down to where it says Multimedia, you'll see the name of your sound card. You can either logon to the manufacturer's website and download drivers from there, or go to http://www.driverguide.com and register there. It's free, and it's simple to use. They have hundreds of thousands of drivers for various bits of hardware. (You obviously have to know the name of what it is you're looking for, and there may be different version numbers that you'll need.)

in case your gadget manager (administration Panel -> equipment -> Hardware) is exhibiting any gadgets with a yellow or pink mark, they may be the sound card. Double-click on the gadget, %. reinstall motive force, and be conscious if it may immediately locate and installation the motive force. that would want to fix the priority. also, go into administration Panel -> Sound and Audio gadgets. less than Audio, make certain the nicely perfect gadgets are chosen for all the playback thoughts.
