Two times in the last week my computer has automatically restarted itself, and then when it's finished booting up again, a message pops up that says "Microsoft Windows: The system has recovered from a serious error. A log of this error has been created." Then i reported the error and it said something like "You received this message because a device driver installed on your computer caused the Windows operating system to stop unexpectedly. This type of error is referred to as a 'stop error'. A stop error requires you to restart your computer."

I won't have time to take my computer to the store to have it looked at until next weekend. Is this something that I can fix by myself? I'm just afraid I'll be working on an important paper or something this week and it will do this and my work will be lost.

Computers are weird... Yeah If you know what driver it is or device you can disable it. You will need to go to Device Manager. Type devmgmt.msc in Run and hit enter.

Remember to always save your paper every 5 minutes and you probably got a virus use a anti virus program to search for any signs of one. If that doesn't work and you have Windows XP use System Restore. To get there go to start, all programs, accessories, system tools, then System Restore. Hope it works
