I had none, and back then people didn't know about welfare. you just got a job and worked. I worked the day before my water broke and went back after 5 weeks. He did well. Latter in life a was able to get better jobs and have benefits life was good. He is 30 now has a family they work hard but I do not think many people save much before children unless they are born with money. Or have children later in life. I was only 22

My husband and I have been saving money since the time we got married, always thinking about the future. 6.5 years after we got married, we decided to have a child, so now we have almost 7 years of savings. I am not going to tell you the amount but I can tell you that we already have bought everything we need for the baby, noone has given us anything, and I like that because as parents we have been able to afford our own baby and we are now making plans for our baby's future. He will have everything!
