I remember doing that when i was a kid its a sign of a lax mother. Sorry but u need to put your foot down. Make sure they have a drink and go to the toilet before they go to bed.

Well when that happens here it's usually if they think they're going to miss out on something. If one hears one of the others down here, they just have to get up and ask for a drink etc. to be a bit nosey.
Sometimes though, depends on the kid, he/she might just want a little bit more attention.................we have one like that !

Yeah they do this now and again, it really gets on your nerves. Another one is they come down after about five minute and say I've had a bad dream or I can't get to sleep, when they haven't even tried!!!

My kids go to bed between 7:30 and 8:00. They know it is bedtime and they accept it. If they want to have fun, they have to be well rested! Otherwise no one has fun.

After I feed my child, and toilet her, i take her to bed about 5-6pm, because she is just too tired, since she wakes up everyday about 5-6am, so she sleep trought out and rarelly she bothers to wake up 3 am when she feels too hot, or too cold, or wanting some milk, and as soon as i assiste her she goes back to sleep, and angel!! lol

it is understandable that kids have smaller bladders than adults,
but, every five minutes is unrealistic telll them "GO TO BED NOW" iuse it and my kids are in bed by 10:00 p.m. nightly and
i have no problems with them trying other tricks as you spoke of because they know i won't put up with it
