I've got a '93 Ford Taurus(GL,3.8,V6) & I think my head gasket may be either blown or on it's way in a hurry. My radiator had a crack in it so needless to say my car overheated. Being in a money crunch at the time I had to keep riding untill payday (ya'll know how it is). Anyway, I just had a brand new one put in & about 15 min. later while riding some white smoke came pouring out of my tailpipe & through what looked like a little hole in my catalytic converter which is a whole other story. My homie's dad said that my head gasket was probably blown & either replace it, get another engine, or I could get some Bar's block sealant if it wasn't too far gone. The first 2 options are quite expensive so I'm leaning towards the 3rd. I never had any experience with liquid sealants before & don't know if they really work, just wondering if anybody has had any experiences good or bad.

What liquid sealants do is that they cause slightly worn rubber seals (piston rings, gaskets, valve seals, etc.) to expand a little to restore them to their original thickness, thus providing better sealing. However, do take note that the effects is only very mild. Liquid sealants are only good if you have very mild smoke or mild wear and tear. If u have a blown gasket, then you've gotta get it replaced. No two was about this bro. Head gaskets are relatively cheap to replace.

Sealant probably won't work and there's a good chance it will plug the wrong opening and wreck the engine. You need to pull the heads to see what the problem is anyway, and then you've gone through most of the trouble of putting the new gaskets in. Put out a few hundred bucks now to avoid a few thousand later.

Sealant won't fix your problem. The tiny hole in the converter is there to drain condinsation. If the WHITE smoke keeps coming out the tailpipe it needs a head gasket and possibly a head.

Swap the motor. That sealant is temp stuff anyways. Won't handle the heat.

Change the head gasket and have the head resurfaced.
