My 4 month DS sleeps swaddled. When he's unswaddled, he wakes himself up thrashing and waving his arms around. We leave his legs free, but we wonder how to best transition him to an unswaddled night... any thoughts?

Thanks, everyone. I think we'll keep on with the swaddle!

I stopped swaddling our daughter at four months because she was too tall to fit in any swaddler blanket by then! And she was able to wriggle her arms out in the middle of the night anyway, so we stopped using it. This may not be the best answer, but I would say if you don't want to swaddle anymore, just stop doing it. I was worried about it as well, but my daugther slept just fine and she learned to get back to sleep by herself because of it. Good luck with whatever you decide to do!

Oh no. I undergo in concepts my first infant doing that along with his palms. He does no longer stay swaddled, yet while he wasn't his palms might wail out. I slept with him at my area in a basinette for an prolonged time. while i might hear him interior the mattress rustling around i might lean over and carry his palms down gently to maintain him from waking himself up. relatively, the two my babies had this difficulty. My 2d did no longer look to have it as long as my first nonetheless. different than that, i myself have no concepts. he's definitely at an age the place he would not % to be swaddled. i've got self belief he replaced into swaddled for somewhat too long inflicting him to no longer get used to being undone. i might advise laying with him in case you could and help shop his palms down while he's asleep while you're utilising a basinette nonetheless.

You shouldnt be in ny hurry to unswaddle your baby. If that helps him sleep let him sleep. Unswaddling may have him up more at night. you could try havein a blanket rolled up by him to help mke the spce by him smaller. so when he wakes he feels the blanket or towel.

I agree with Tracey. He will let you know when he doesn't wan't to be swaddled anymore. Ckeck out baby signing and he can tell you what he wants. lol We signed a little with 3 of them.
If I were you I would go back to your question and edit it to add your answer to tracey. If she is like me, lol thank God few are, she goes back and checks her answers periodically.
In baby signing babies learn the sign for no fast . He might enjoy being able to tell you what he doesn't like. Bottle and more, are quickly learned also. In fact those are the main 3 we used. In fact u can create your own signs.
lol your email wouldn't let me answer your question.

Lots of babies like the closeness of swaddling, makes them feel secure and warm. Is there a reason specifcally you do not him swaddled? Like many things with babies, you sometimes just have to follow their lead.
