I loved it! My friend and I stayed in a cheap hotel in the 3rd tier of the Tube. We took doubledeckers to see the sights, We fed pigeons in Piccadilly Square, we ate at little shops, we walked a LOT when we didn't take the Tube. We were near Oxford Circus(?) trying to meet up with friends and drank ales and lime. The city is beautiful and there is so much to do and so little time! The Tower of London was closed at the time or we would have done that. We saw Westminster Abbey, and went to Buckingham Palace and saw the Beefeaters and the fountains.

I'd go back again in a heartbeat. My husband's been overseas, but not to London.

I returned from London about a month ago. I've always wanted to go and I was not at all disapointed! It was brilliant! It is expensive as the dollar is very week against the British Pound so figure everything double. The most expensive purchase will be your airfare and lodging which will be booked in USD. I found a great deal on Travelocity with round trip airfare on Virgin Atlantic and lodging at a great hotel right above Charing Cross Station which was so perfectly located. Walking distance to so many things: London Eye, House of P, Big Ben, steps from the Thames, National Gallery, Trafalgar Square.

I was very worried about the money situation before I went. But if you're smart with your money and read Time Out London like you should, you can find amazing places to dine and hang out. Plus museums are free over there and you can make an entire trip just seeing them. I didn't feel the pinch nearly as much as I thought I would. Also, curb your shopping. Knowing I wasn't getting any deals kept me from shopping and it allowed me to do things I wouldn't normally get to do over here. Do splash out on high tea at a posh hotel, it's worth it! Also, go for 3 or 4 days instead of a week. That's as savings right there!

Good Luck!

expensive. figure that every thing will cost you about twice as much as the states, especially food. if you do go, try the kebabs and curry.
