It depends what happens to cause the bleeding, if the bleeding is an on-going thing, or if the bleeding is heavy.

For some women, like myself, they continue to have a period during their pregnancy. I continued to have my period for the first 3 months of pregnancy. I didnt even know i was pregnant until i got a routine blood test and the doctor told me i was pregnant. When women do get their periods during pregnancy, it doesnt always last the entire pregnancy, maybe just half. And it is usually lighter and shorter.

Does your bleeding occur after sexual intercourse or a physical exam? During pregnancy, the cervix (door to the uterus), becomes swollen and covered with hundred of little blood vessesl. During sex or an exam, if the cervix is touched, some of the blood vessels can rupture and cause bleeding. This is nothing to worry about and completely normal.

Unexplained bleeding: Sometimes in pregnancy, women may randomly spot a bit of blood. This too can be normal. However, there are some things you should look out for:

-If the bleeding is continuous, heavy, and you are having cramps and back pain, then go to the ER.

-If you are passing clots, have fever/chills, sudden headache that doesnt go away, then call your doctor as soon as possible.

Hope this helps, and good luck with your pregnancy!

I bled for the 1st 4 months of my pregnancy and every thing worked out fine in the end, although i did go to my GP or hospital each time it happened which was at least once a week and i think you should do the same.I lost my first baby at 8 weeks but with that one i had no bleeding or tell tale signs i only found out at my first scan so all pregnancy's are different.Get yourself checked out but try not too worry too much, what will be will be.Good luck and all the best

Although some people do bleed during pregnancy, you should go straight to the hospital. There are not many doctors or nurses on here, and if there were, all doctors say the same thing, 'I can't tell until I have checked you'
Please go to the hospital, for the safety of you and your unborn baby!
