A pluralist is someone that believes we are governed by groups, like interest groups and coalitions and things.
I don't quite know about Madison, though. Sorry.

An egoist sees everything in black & white. There is only one legitimate view, theirs. They remain at the same level of ignorance.

A dualist also sees everything in black & white, but will see there may be merit on two sides of an issue. They remain teachable & sees merit in both.

A pluralist sees everything in shades of grey, seeing many different possibilities of an issue. They are emminently teachable because their mind is the most open.

Only God, as you understand God, sees all the shades of color of an issue. Only God knows everything, and lets each of us reach our own conclusions.

As far as James Madison goes, Maybe you have a clearer idea of what you need to learn about him.
