as the complexity of the equation increases, it becomes increasingly harder to merely "look" at it....

there is no easy answer to this question; generally, though, the level of math and the relative difficulty of the problems will be a good indicator...

function is a rule of correspondence between two sets such that there is a unique element in the second set assigned to each element in the first set. normally, every equation is a function. Do you mean different kinds of functions?

well im not sure if u can just "look at it" but if it has two points in any given verticle line, then its not a function. for example there cant be 2 different y values with the same x value
