Psychologists have a theory that the human brain is not fully formed until sometime after the age of eighteen. To my knowledge, the hypothesis is still unproven; but if it should turn out to be true, it would explain why many (not all) young people literally cannot imagine the consequences of their actions and are therefore ready to do anything.
Besides, there are crimes and crimes. Taking the neighbor's car for a joy-ride at the age of sixteen is enough to get a criminal record for life, but I think most of us would not consider it a good enough reason to deny a job to a qualified thirty-year-old.

Mostly for thrills and excitment, and to gain a kind of admiration from their friends who are of a similar mind set. If they were led towards other exciting pursuits, such as rock climbing, motor cycle scrambling etc they probably would`nt offend.

Not enough parental supervision. If parents are working, are there grandparents, aunts & uncles, etc? It used to be that the neighborhood would look after everyone's children. It was understood. You couldn't get away with anything without it getting back to your parents. I think that was a good thing.

If we knew the answer to that there would be no criminals. I get bored but that doesn't make me want to commit a crime.

because of today's society they have no respect for law as they know they will get away with anything they do wrong and peer pressure to do wrong..
