I have to quote things for my book report, and one of the quotes i used says what a sign said. Do you put what it said in ' ' or do you put it in small capital letters, like a book would do?

“The running path started out like a normal track, with closely cut grass on either side of it, snaking between the baseball diamond and the lacrosse field, then curving past the dog runs and around the parking lot. Then it left the grass behind, and disappeared into a surprisingly thick forest. Yeah, a real forest, right In the middle of nowhere, with a discreet little brown sign that said WELCOME TO THE ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTRY ARBORETUM by the side of the path.”- Page 13

the capital part is small and capital, like a book would say

In the USA, you would use double quotes "Welcome to the Anne Arundel Country Arboretum". In England, believe it or not, you would use a single quote. 'Welcome..... '

Couldn't believe that when a stuffy English publisher told me how a book should be written for the English market. Of course, it wasn't in their guidelines.

You would put 'single quotes' around it.
