I know just what you mean. I bought my house in US eight years ago and some people who lived here before that still use this address and the cops come with warrants for some of them on a regular basis. I ask the postal service and get a so what. I mark the item return to sender - not at this address - please remove this address from your records. Everyone just ignores that as they are too lazy to do their job and you go to jail if you throw away mail. Just mark out your address and put it back into the post box without comment and this forces the post office guys to do their job and send it back and charge for the service.

In the US you just simply write "return to sender" on the envelope and take it back to the post office or put it in your mail box for outgoing mail. There is also a change of address form that can be filled out so the post office knows that mail only in your name is to be sent to that address.

One way is to write: Return to sender on the envelope and send it back to the sender. Another way is to notify the post office and have them keep the unwanted mail.

Cross out the address and write:-
"Return to Sender - No longer living at this address"
then post them in a postbox - there is no need to add a stamp.

Scribble over the original address and write' goneaway - no longer at this address' and pop into a post box.
Companies have 'goneaway' procedures that will stop you receiving the mail. It will take time to get through each one though.
