A brain is what you are born with, a mind is what is left over after all the molding and influences of childhood.

It's important to clarify what "Mind" means first of all. Mind is a concept that refers to collective aspects of intellect and consciousness.

An individual is born with a brain. If a person is born with a fully functional brain, that will be the premise to his or her intellectual development. Studies and researches have pointed out that genetics and environment have an equal importance in the intellectual evolution of an individual. Therefore, from this point of view, you can say that "mind" is equally an innate characteristic, as well as learned, developed in the environment we live in (that implies social, educational, religion, culture factors).

Consciousness is the second aspect of the mind, which implies self-awareness, subjectivity, sapience and ability to perceive the relationship between yourself and the external environment. In other words, consciousness means being awake. Consciousness is an innate aspect of the human being (when you're born, you're conscious), and being non-conscious means sleeping or being in a coma, being under anesthesia or other states of mind.
