Something has to be there. If nothing ever existed, then none of us would be here and you couldn't ask your question and I couldn't answer it.

But since we are here, something like the Universe has to be here also, because it is the source for the atoms of which we are made.

Why do we exist?

That is a question no one knows the answer to.

You can either take the religious path to answer that question, which will tell you that God created everything because he wants people to enjoy living.

Or, you can take the more scientific approach, and view life as just a freak accident or formation. If life is just a freak accident, then we have no real purpose, except to just keep living, surviving and reproducing.

There is a universe because it exists. We exist in that universe because we are a part of it.

There is a universe because we, as humans, need a place to exist. Without it, we would have no purpose, and we wouldn't exist. The universe and everything around you is just something your precieve as being there. If you didn't precieve it as such, there would be no meaning to your life therefore it wouldn't exist.

Have you discovered the Universe? There was one, but it hasn't been seen since.
