No, Its my birthday and down to me to make it a nice day its all about your own mind set.

Yes, I would expect my husband to make my birthday extra special.
Of course, I also realize that he probably doesn't think about and plan birthdays the same as I do, so I will probably have to drop a few hints here and there.
I would just love him to cook dinner for me, make a cake (or buy one!), maybe send flowers to my work and definitely at least a gift (it doesn't have to be expensive or nice, just thoughtful). Oh, and lots of affection throughout the day too!

I don't expect anything from my spouse. It depends if you think birthdays are important enough for your spouse to consider it just as important and therefore do something nice.
Personally birthdays, anniversaries, etc are over rated.

i would only expect a thought in mind... hence, "it's the thought that counts".
but, i wouldnt want anything so big like as if he were celebrating my b-day for the first time. maybe some cake and ice cream with family and friends, or dinner for two, or a movie date, ro a simple gift that came from the heart (not jewelry or something expensive).
i would expect that i get a lil bit of extra "be nice to me its my b-day" because i wouldnt want to be in a bad mood all day, haha.

I am not big into celebrating birthdays to be fair, and I am happy if my b/f remembers to say to me Happy Birthday!!!! I don't "expect" a gift or card, he cooks me a beautiful meal and makes it all romantic, so that's all I want.

Yes I do, which always leads to resentment when I get a card. He usually forgets, but always expects me to remember his. I just figure its the way we are. Some men just don't do presents well.

I expect him to... he use to when we were first married.. now he just acts like its a chore... he does't surprise me with flower anymore , and he has never gotten me an anniversary gift ever.
