The Phoenicians developed a system of writing; the Greeks added vowels to THAT alphabet to be suitable for writing poetry and songs, and the Egyptians used hieroglyphics as a form of writing.

If I remember right (It's been 30+ years since history class...) It is cuneiform writing... And I believe it was somewhere in the Mid-East.

cave paintings first appear in euope in 30,000 years ago and soon follow in many other places. current theory suggests they were actually made by early shaman who were recording their visions of gods, not hunting records by hunter/gathers as was previously believed.

someone correct me if im wrong but i think it was the Etruscans in what is present day Iraq.it was called cueniform (koo-NAY-aform)
