PATTERN RECOGNITION by William Gibson is not only a great read but a very important book about our society and how/why it works! A new thriller about terrorism in the U.S. in a story centered around LSU in Baton Rouge is THE TIGER AMONG US by Chris Warner. You won't be able to put either one down til you finish and both will teach you things about our world.

Greatest book I've ever read was "Confederacy of Dunces" by John Kennedy O'Toole.
The author committed suicide before the novel was ever published, and his family posthumously published it, later winning innumerous literary awards, highly recommended.
