Why do people say Darby when its spelt Derby?

same reason some folks say creek others say crik or briar or brawr.

Same reason they say Clark when it is spelled Clerk. On this side of the world, the British talk funny. And in England, I would probably talk funny.

Harkens back to olde english or gaelic accents.
