Here's a hint: You don't need all the travel-brochure language. Your book just put that in as a way to keep your interest; it has nothing to do with the question. All you need to write is:

a. What important river has its beginning in the Ural Mountains?

b. What are the elevations of the Hindu Kush Mountains and the depth of the Khyber Pass?

I don't know the answers but at least now if someone who does comes here, they'll be able to understand the questions.
