I believe the issue when this fact came to light was that, despite his daughter's sexual orientation, Cheney does NOT support gay marriage. There is no way he would go against his party so dramatically. And it's not news that his daughter is a lesbian; I'm pretty sure everyone knows.

I think that is common knowledge.
Plus she is a Republican... there are plenty of gay Republicans. Republicans have no problem with gay ppl as long as those gay ppl don't ask for gay marriage and keep their mouth shut. Meaning as long as they stay in the closet and live by heterosexual rules as a second class citizen.
