Anyone know any good help sites? Or maybe an explanation of the plot?

I read it a few months ago. It is essentially about how a young Japanese-American boy and his family living in Hawaii cope with the prejudice and discrimination held by both neighbors and the government during the early years of World War II. I believe the young boy's father is taken prisoner as he returns to harbor a few days after Pearl Harbor because his small fishing vessel was not flying the American flag. His shipping partner was killed by soliders as well. Anyway, his businesses (fishing and some sort of birds--pidgeons I believe--are taken away from them. The mother works as a housekeeper for one of the neighbors. The boy has to put up with a lot of bullying from his mother's employers' son. His best friend is a white boy. That's what I remember I hope it will be of some use. The plot doesn't have a firm resolution, the war is still going on. And there is a sequel that was just released that continues the story. Also a major part of the plot was the boy having to keep an eye on his grandfather because he kept doing odd things like flying the Japanese flag and celebrating Japanese holidays and whatnot. There was a lot of suspicion by the neighbors regarding the loyalty of the grandfather.
