I normally take my pill at about 9am.

On friday, I did not take my pill until 7pm that evening.

I should be ok right?

It depends on the type of pill, is it progesterone only or combined? Some have to be taken at exactly the same time every day - check the leaflet that came with them. If you're still not sure, use a condom until after your next period just to be on the safe side.

Depends if you take the progestrogen only pill ("mini pill") or more commen "combined" (oestrogen and progestrogen) pill.

The mini pill needs to be taken within a couple of hours of the normal time or you will not be protected. The combined pill has more of a window, but should be taken within twelve hours. Later than this, and you need to count it as a missed pill, and carry on the packet but use a barrier method such as a condom for the next 7 days (the "7 day rule").

Have a look at the info sheet in the box your pills came in. I think most combined pills give you 12 hours to take them, and you took it 10 hours late, so you should be OK.

To be safe it may be worth not having unprotected sex for 7 days after you took it late.

Hope that helps.

Depends on the pill. If it's Ovranette you can take it up to 12 hours late and still be ok. It should tell you in the instructions.

Don't risk it unless you are thoroughly prepared for the consequences. Full stop.
