for hockey goalies. They could move them in front of the goals with forklifts. A puck would never get by them, eh.

I can think of at least 5 reasons why NOT. Insurance, Health, Agility, Speed (Lack of..), Indurance.... etc.
Not to step on the toes of the "Husky" people but.... If I was coaching against a team with a "1000lb." goalie, as you put it, I'd just say, " Don't attack from head on. Come in from the one wing side and when your about 3ft. from him, shift quickly to the other wing side and shoot". The goalie would never be able to get across that fast!!!!!!!!

It's not a matter of just blocking the goal, goal keeping is skill and agility. A recent poster asked if he should just play goal since he couldn't skate very well and thought he could plant himself infront of the net, but the answer was a resounding NO! Skill, speed, flexibility, and NOT goofy short cuts are the key to keeping the puck out of the net.

No one is big enough to cover a whole goal, and pad regulations force pads to be only so big. In addition, a massivly overweight goalie won't have any endurance and speed. Also, since NHL calibur players can hit their corners well and rip a shot, an overweight goalie will be ripped to shreads.
aka: an enormously fat goalie would suck
