Your too close. Too deep in to see the joy your shop brings people.
Try and find a refocusing activity, or a place to recharge.
Talk to your boss, and family to cut the music and Christmas excess from 10 down to 4 or 6 on the scale. Being at 10 can be bad for a persons health too.
Try and remember the positive events: children's laughing, and oohs, etc. Positive adults that understand you.
Forget the negative people as you would a wrapper on the floor, in the mall. Such negative people are true downers - and are happy when others are sad.
Also know the season will pass, hopefully peaceful as you'd like.
Peace.

No you're not alone the Christians are just as sick of Commercial Christmas starting in October! I get fed up with all the commercialisation of Christmas. It is a Christian Festival and there's is no need for non-believers or other 'faiths' to get involved or into debt on our account.
I don't see the point of 'Commercial Christmas Lights' - they aren't offensive to other religions in the UK because they know business has hi-jacked Christmas - they even play our religious Carols in shops for goodness sake. But I won't allow business to stop me and my family from enjoying our Christian Celebration of this Christian Festival - we will visit the Crib in the local church with our grandchildren, make our own crib at home, put up a Christmas Tree and have a traditional Christmas Lunch. We will go to Midnight Communion and the Carol Services.
We should tell our local businesses that WE the Christian Community find CHRISTMAS STREET LIGHTS OFFENSIVE - the other religions have no reason to find them offensive unless they are getting into debt because of the commercial lights - and that's their choice!
I expect lots of thumbs down for this - but I don't care, because when Christmas does come my spirit of goodwill will be wishing all of you A Very Merry Christmas and a Very Happy, Healthy and Peaceful Life in 2007!

For a pagan celebration ripped off my Christians they don't half make a big deal out of it, don't they? Its actually a fairly major Sabbat and not about the whole commercialised circus that it has become.
Having said that I'm defo gonna get my crackers from Ann Summers shop this year. I like the yule log and the decorated tree (growing not cut) and all the sparkling decorations. It reminds me of the coming year.

I have all my presents in. i start in July so that I can get my daughter everything she wants. No she is not a spoilt brat she does a lot of things to help me and she is very kind to others. She also gives her old toys to a childrens home. She is now a teenager and has started sorting out all her unwanted stuff for people less fortunate.

Remember when you see the Christmas merchandise all around you is that it is just material goods and not really at the heart and soul of Christmas. Ask yourself what Christmas REALLY is. For me it has to do with kindness towards others and thinking of little ways to bring joy to their lives; ie. baking my special pumpkin walnut bread for others, spending time with the elderly and listen to them talk about their lives, donating food and supplies to those who need it, just finding occassional good deeds to do such as calling someone who may be lonely at this time of year. Christmas is a time to honor this life we have been given. I understand how cynical you must feel in your shop and it may stem from your own deeper wisdom that commercialization should not be at the heart of Christmas. Look within yourself to find your own sources of joy. Peace be with you.

Do you feel this way each year? why don't you try to have a better attitude. I don't work in a card shop but I sure do love the whole bit about Christmas.

Totally agree with you Bunnygirl, I used to work in retail ( loss prevention), perhaps those who think it is so great should do 2 months "work experience" in the run-up to xmas, with the late nights openings and constant barrage of xmas crap music, hum-bug to it all !!!

Wow!! You need a break. Definitely take a really deep breath, and get a new outlook or you will be miserable for the next two months.
