It's so true and I hate it - not everybody says Las Vegas, in fact, I hear so many people, especially on the movies etc say LOS Vegas, I could scream - they don't seem to understand that LAS and LOS are pronounced differently - hear a Spanish speaker pronounce say them, and you'll hear the difference!

Interesting. I can't say I've ever heard anybody do that. But you've made me think. I say Las Angeles. Hmmm. And I live in So Ca. Hmmm. But I know news casters are always mispronouncing words. Yeah, it's annoying as heck. Viva Las Vegas. =)

las vegas las vegas las vegas. I think its because people are used to saying los angeles. Las vegas.

I pronounce it Lost Wages. I too have never heard it pronounced Los Vegas either.

I've never heard anyone pronounce it that way. We all simply say "Las Vegas".

Hmm, I guess I say "lahs" in either case. And I've been in CA for quite a few years, and the natives all say the same.
When in doubt, just say L.A. and Lahs Vegas. Everyone will know what you mean.

Because they're so used to saying LOS Angeles... and they're too lazy to open their mouths up to pronounce LAS Vegas...
