Not especially. People like to think so, like with the Nike Shox, and junk like that. As long as your not wearing a pair of Tims, your jump is going to be determined by your physical ability, not what shoes you wear.
If you think it helps, wear a pair that are light weight, yet durable, and have good ankle and arch support.

a basketball shoe is designed to be comfortable and durable while playin basketball not to help you jump higher but a strength training shoe that is designed to keep you on the ball of your foot therefore working out your calf and thigh muscles everytime you run with them on but its costs like 150.00 because it works and come with a DVD with exercises on it and a paracute to add more resistance to your sprint.

No basketball shoes dont help you jump. you have to do exercises to strengthen your legs. Also you need to continiously work on your virtical leap. Jump ropeing is a great way to both strengthen your legs and work on jumping

my shoes are sick. they are atr pumps from reebok. they are about 70 bucks, i got em at foot locker. they have a button that makes u jump higher
