it seems like every advert, programme and poster is about looks and having the perfect body. i think that it's making us and children focus too much on our looks when we should be thinking about our personality. what do you think?

I think personality and how you carry yourself matters most and most of all how you treat others, I've seen many good looking people, who lack personality and seem very standoffish as well as arrogant and nobody wants to have anything to do with them, I've learned people love people who are approachable and easy to talk to, who have a positive attitude, and believe me looks become secondary, many people are into looks, but eventually as you know that wears off, over time.
I'd teach my children not to judge a book by its cover.

Unfortunately, people in this world are judged to a certain degree based on how they look. While I believe it's an unchangeable fact, people can try to change what is viewed as being "beautiful", (i.e. healthy bodies, not twigs for example) and I believe the media plays a large role in this.

No, looks are not important, to the media who want to sell magazines to the vulnerable maybe but to real honest people no, seeing how people look and not bothering to see them for the person they are is very shallow, do we live in cruel world today hey.

Most people would probably say yes. People tend to get more respect the better they look. Also some people may be ugly to some but not to others.
I base people on there personality not on there looks.
