i'm sure on the night the nerves will go and you will be fantastic. my daughter performed in the citizens theatre in glasgow and she felt the same but on the night she shone and was brilliant just take a big deep breath before you go on stage and go out and be a true performer x goodluck x

The main key is: How well do you know your lines? If you know them extremely well, then you'll feel more comfortable with the show. When I was scared about a show, the thing that always got me was that I wasn't confident on my lines. And second, keep your mind on your performance and not the crowd. Chances are the lights will prevent you from being able to see out there. Maybe, if it's possible, you should rehearse at the stage that you're going to be at. Get comfortable with it. I would keep an open mind and relax! Have fun. The crowd will love it. Good Luck- but I'm sure you won't need it. Keep me posted on how it goes. Sonia- sunnybozo2000@yahoo.com

I suppose that your one of the main characters, or even if your not if they have chosen you to act in it it's because you must be really good. I tell you from my personal experience when performing it's not common not to be nervous and want to die right there, but nobody is pressuring you but yourself and you've worked so hard in it then there is no chance that it goes wrong. You must of course warm up before the show, maybe perform infront of your friends and family to get used to perform infront of people and don't stress because you must be really good. Don't be nervous, though it's very common, breathe, inhale and exhale slowly and believe me you would feel better. I'm extremely sure that you are fantastic and if the theatre is not fulled uo then don't worry because they are missing a lot and this is not about the people, it's about you, and it's you whom should be having fun on stage. Don't worry, you'll do fine and I wish you luck though you won't need it.

practise practise prepare and relax when you are prepared know the lines inside and out, have prepared with people watching you, try your lines in a recorder and play it back till you think its perfect.

on the night if you have practised you will more then likely go into Otto pilot.... i don't even remember being on stage after preforming as by mine switches off and my body takes over

at show time look over your line a hour before then get a good vantage point watch your fellow performers and think i can do this. they can do this so can i. if there is mistakes not the end of the world as long as you have gave and prepared all that all you can do.

I have been a dancer since i was two years old and have been on stage plenty of times. The first thing you have to remember is that you have been practicing for months and could probably do the play in your sleep. Also, ask yourself what is the worst thing that could happen? The worst thing that will happen is that you make a little mistake in your lines or something and the audience will get a little giggle out of it. Most importantly make sure you pee before you get on stage even if you don't have to.

Ignore the people and immerse yourself in the play as much as possible. When I get on stage I try not even to acknowledge the existence of the audience, they become just part of the show. There are breathing excersises and little rituals you can do in order to relieve stress.

You can take deep breaths and the like. Also try singing a song you really like before going on to calm you down. Some actors, including myself like to keep little lucky charms with them. Just do whatever makes you feel comfortable and good luck.

Here is what I would suggest to relieve tension. The night before a performance I punch the living daylights out of something (usually a pillow but sometimes I just attack my couch.) It helps to relieve excess tension, I promise. Get a good night's rest, you'll regret it if you don't. If you have the opportunity, drink a small glass of wine or something. Don't drink a lot, just a few ounces or so. Take several deep breaths before you go on stage.
And lastly, just have fun with it. Acting is not a form of torture, it is a chance for you to play a game.
Good luck. I'm rooting for you!

REHEARSE LOTS!!!!!!
The more confident that you feel about knowing your lines and about where you are supposed to be and what you are supposed to be doing, the easier it will be.

There is nothing worse than poor preparation for giving you a lack of confidence and a feeling of dread.

Remember that you are not on your own, and that you are a part of a team, all working together to put on the best show that you can.

good luck, BREAK A LEG.

HI, it's OK to be scared. As an actor myself I feel if you don't get nervous you can become complacent and not give it your all.
rehearse lots, think your charcters through and take that nervousness and turn it into energy.
I took a tip from Michael Caine when i was starting and he once said "the day I don't get nervous is the day I give it all up!"
