I just bought a softub. I filled it for the first time, not seeing any leaks. When I turned the unit on, the top tube connection was shooting water everywhere. Now it is askew- I am afraid to disconnect it to fix it, thinking 200 gal of water may be draining into my house!

i'm afraid you will have to drain it before taking that fitting apart.there are no check valves in a hot tub's system to keep it from emptying back out.make sure the O ring is in the union before re-assembling,and don't over-tighten it.

you do not necessarily need to drain it, put a tub stopper in the drain on the inside of the tub,,, but you will lose some water that is in the pipes when you change the fitting ,,,about a half to 1 gallon ,,, so if you have a floor that you don't want to get some water on than you may want to drain it,,,,otherwise, put some towels down to absorb most of the water that is in the pipes and change away,,,good luck,
